Forest Health: the Good, the Invasive, and the Healthy HARVARD’S CLIMATE INITIATIVE COMMITTEE announces the second event in its collaborative educational series, KNOW YOUR LAND. The series continues with an immersive event focused on woodland invasive species. There is much to discover in the woods in the Spring; we welcome those who participated in the Fall hike as well as newcomers to the series. On May 4 (Rain date May 11), join us for a guided walk through the conservation land at Horse Meadows Knoll and a portion of the Muller Trail where you will meet and talk with local forestry experts about forest health. You will learn how to recognize hallmarks of a robust forest and identify invasive species. There will be opportunity to see how the Harvard Conservation Trust is working to restore a section of the land once seriously compromised by invasive species. At the heart of this endeavor is the series‘ mission: to empower our community with knowledge about Harvard’s natural environments. By understanding how to care for and protect our land, we can ensure its health and beauty for generations to come. Come, dive into nature, understand your land better, and become more aware of Harvard‘s beautiful forests. Together, let‘s embark on this journey towards a brighter, greener future! But that‘s not all! This event is for the entire family. It‘s a delightful walk in the woods - with snacks provided! Key Details: · Location: Horse Meadows Knoll, 45 Sherry Road, Harvard. · Time: Participants are welcome to start their exploration anytime between 1:00 and 2:30 · Length: 1.4-mile round trip without any steep terrain. https://www.harvardsclimateinitiative.org/events/know-your-land-in-springtime
